Holmes - Terry Foss

Seasonal fishermen dared not venture to the southern side of Fogo Island for fear of an encounter with the Beothuk. That was before John Holmes. In 1823 he took the chance and set up tilts in Seldom Come By. Five years later he became its first permanent settler. This is his story.
