Newfoundland and Labrador Quilters Remember World War 1
The effects of World War 1 continue to reverberate across the generational divide that separates those who fought in the trenches and those who remember their sacrifices a century later.
To honour the volunteers and their families, the Cabot Quilters' Guild issued an invitation to quilters from across Newfoundland and Labrador to use their craft to commemorate the heroism and losses of World War 1. The response was enthusiastic, creative, and deeply personal, resulting in the submission of almost 250 quilt blocks, together with the stories that inspired them
Those blocks, created using a variety of skilled construction and design techniques, became the 17 breathtaking quilts profiled in this book. Together , they speak to a profound respect and admiration for all of those affected by World War 1
Included in this volume is a forward by former Lieutenant-Governor Edward Roberts.
